3 Weeks

Mixing storytelling, stand-up comedy and theatre, ‘The No. 9 Bus to Utopia’ is one man’s account of a year in search of a better life as he packs in his job and takes a roller-coaster ride through some of the most extraordinary communities in the 21st century West. Although packed with humour, mischief and wild adventures, at the heart of this one-man show lies Bramwell’s genuine desire to inspire audiences with ways to re-connect with neighbours and community. This is storytelling theatre at its very best; poignant, heartfelt, touching and relevant, it connects with audiences everywhere.

“A brilliant peformance!” – Tom Hodgkinson, Author of ‘How to be Idle’

“Lovely storytelling: a real boy’s own adventure!” – Total Theatre Magazine

The show is simply executed, requiring little set-up time and minimal props. It has been performed in every kind of venue – a large theatre stage, Brighton’s ‘Earth Ship’, the back room of a pub, and even in the corner of a barn as part of the Trill Farm Festival. Ideal for rural touring, it is flexible, easy to set up, and quick to strike.

Running time: 1 hour, 40 mins (including 15 minute interval)
Suitability: 12+
